I know it’s hard not talking to someone you’re used to seeing and talking to daily, but giving yourself time and space from him is the best way to get over a breakup. There are many other things to do instead of contacting your ex which I will list in this blog. I know there are those pesky thoughts that creep in that makes it really tempting.
Why can’t I call my ex, you wonder. Why can’t I reach out and see how he’s doing? Maybe if I called him and we talked things out, we can get back together…
The bottom line is, if he wanted to talk to you and work it out, he would.
Remember, your phone is your worst enemy (especially when you’ve been drinking!). It’s not worth blowing all your hard work of moving on by drunk-dailing or drunk-texting your ex.
Here are 10 things you can do instead of contacting your ex!
1) Take yourself out for a movie that your ex would never see with you
2) Learn a new hobby (sewing, journaling, boxing, gardening, singing, etc.)
3) Go outdoors! Hiking, beaching, mountain climbing. Preferably somewhere where there’s no cell reception to tempt you.
4) Grab all the things you need from the grocery store to make your favorite meal (or dessert) for tonight
5) Call up an old friend and meet them up for coffee
6) Volunteer at an animal shelter
7) Clean out your closet and donate clothes you never wear (or clothes your ex bought you that’s either not your size or not your style). At least you can stop making excuses as to why you never wear it.
8) Gather up your friends and have a girl’s night!
9) Read a book that you’ve been meaning to get around to.
10) Pamper yourself. Take a nice, long, bubble bath, go to the spa, go shopping, or do your own nails.
Remember: This is your time to take care of yourself. You deserve to be happy in your life and this is the first step that will lead towards that.
